What it does
- Downloads files fast (several connections per file), pauses and resumes.
- Built-in browser that finds videos and streams (HLS) on the page and saves them as one file.
- YouTube links, ad and pop-up blocking, tabs, search suggestions.
How to install
- Open this page on your phone and tap Download Spotter.
- Open the file. Android asks to allow installs from your browser: allow it for this once.
- One APK works on every phone with Android 8 or newer (arm64, arm32 and x86). There is no per-CPU version to pick.
- Updates: come back here and install the newer version over the old one; your downloads stay.
Seeing a warning when you install?
Spotter is not in the Play Store and is signed with its author's own key, so Google Play Protect and Chrome do not know it yet and may say "unsafe" or "not commonly downloaded". This is normal for apps shared outside the Play Store. The source code is public (see below), so you can check what it does.
- Chrome says the file may be dangerous: tap Keep (or the ⋮ menu → Keep), then Download anyway.
- Play Protect says the app is blocked or unsafe: tap More details, then Install anyway.
- No such button: open the Play Store → your profile → Play Protect → ⚙ and turn off "Scan apps with Play Protect" until the install is done, then turn it back on.
- "App not installed": an older Spotter signed with a different key is on the phone. Uninstall it first, then install again.

Privacy
Once a day the app sends this site a random install ID, the app version, the Android version and the CPU type, so the author can count how many devices use it. No IP address is stored, and nothing about your downloads, browsing, files, name or device identity is sent. You can switch it off in Spotter → Settings → Privacy. Apart from that, the app talks only to the sites you visit or download from, and to your search engine when you type in the address bar (switchable).
This site counts APK downloads (file name and day only).
Licence and source
Spotter uses NewPipeExtractor (GPL-3.0), so Spotter is distributed under the GPL-3.0 as well. The matching source code is on this page. Ad filter lists: EasyList and EasyPrivacy (CC BY-SA 3.0 / GPLv3).
